New Generation of Precision Pan and Tilt Units from KCL
Kane Computing Ltd (KCL) recently announced that they were now shipping the new E-Series Pan and Tilt Units manufactured by FLIR Motion Control Systems (formerly Directed Perception Inc.)
The E-Series replaces a number of popular D-Series models (PTU-D48E, PTU-D100E and PTU-D300E) with new features and capabilities plus greater flexibility. The E-Series represents a major upgrade to the internal workings of the pan/tilt units whilst preserving the provden, robust mechanical designs.
The E-Series raises the bar in high performance pan/tilt systems.
New features include:
- Web interface for simpler configuration diagnostics
- Ethernet/IP command interface
- Higher command rates, lower latency and jitter
- Programmable ranges of motion
- High-resolution digital encoder for more robust positioning
- Reduced calibration movement
- Improved power protection circuitry (MIL-STD-1275)
- 32-pin Base Connector for simplified wiring
- Fully backward-compatible command interface

PTU-D48E Pan and Tilt Unit |
The PTU-D48 E-Series is the latest in the PTU-D48 family of integrated, computercontrolled
pan/tilt units designed for intelligent positioning and control of camera,
laser, antenna, and other payloads up to 15 pounds. The E-Series provides superior
real-time motion control performance and simplified application integration with
built-in Ethernet, slip-ring for 360º continuous pan, and user-programmable ranges
of motion. The E-Series control interface is fully compatible with other MCS pan/tilt
models and provides increased performance and real-time motion control fidelity.

PTU-D100E Pan and Tilt Unit |
The PTU-D100 E-Series is the latest in the PTU-D100 family of modular,
computer-controlled pan/tilt units designed for intelligent positioning and control
of payloads up to 25 pounds.
The PTU-D100 withstands
high duty-cycles and offers long life in harsh, all-weather environments for fixed and
mobile applications. |

PTU-D300E Pan and Tilt Unit |
The PTU-D300 E-Series is the latest in the popular PTU-D300
family of heavy duty pan/tilt units designed for fast, accurate
positioning of payloads to 70 pounds. It offers multiple mounting
options, a single connection point, and is designed for demanding
applications that require up to 100% duty-cycles and long life in harsh,
all-weather environments.

Inertial Stablisation Module (ISM) |
KCL is also pleased to announce the availability of the all new “Inertial Stabilisation Module” (ISM) for E-Series pan/tilt units. MCS pioneered low cost open architecture inertial stabilization for its line of high-performance pan/tilt units and has developed an all new implementation that improves performance and simplifies integration.
For the first time, the ISM is available for PTU-D48E model pan/tilt units providing very compact, low cost stabilisation for smaller multi-part payloads. The PTU-D48E-ISM model is a breakthrough in price/performance.
