New Version of VSIP2 Encoder Firmware with ‘CVQ’
Ateme have recently released a brand new version (2.2.0.0) of their VSIP2 firmware. This includes a brand new ‘CVQ’ Constant Video Quality video compression function, which can operate with a maximum bit rate set but operates at lower bit rates/frame rates for un-demanding scenes (no action), whilst maintaining a selected video quality. CVQ saves important bandwidth and storage space, resulting in 60% savings comparing MPEG4 and H.264 with CVQ. This new version supports high quality D1, full frame rate encoding down to 800kbps. A number of video clips can be downloaded to check out VSIP2 performance running MPEG4 and H.264 encoders mentioned above. These recordings were generated using Ateme’s NVR software. ftp://mood.ateme.com/vs_stream/H264_25_fps.zip ftp://mood.ateme.com/vs_stream/H264_12_fps.zip These show similar quality with MPEG4 at 2Mbps and H.264 with CVQ at 700Kbps. It is recommended to use the Ateme PC Player for decoding/display with the statistics screen activated.
Ateme PC Network Video Recorder (NVR) Software
The Ateme NVR (Network Video Recorder) is a software based solution that manages the recording of network video security systems for OEM customers. The powerful recording Engine has been optimised to provide maximum performance enabling efficient recording that will maximise search and retrieval of video and ensure the best possible start for the management of Video Security System. The Ateme NVR was designed with flexibility and scalability in mind. Installation of this software will turn a standard PC into a network video recording system. The basic NVR does not include a Video Server Manager to allow management of the live and recorded stream from one web interface but Ateme plan to announce their own VSM software, later this year. Advance News: ViSiO2 Quad MPEG4/H.264 Encoder
ViSiO2, due to be formally announced and available later this year (October) offers simultaneous encoding of 4 channels of MPEG4 or H.264 at 4CIF resolution and full frame rate with ( AAC -LC audio encoding if required). It is possible to store locally, using a separate SATA 320GB module (one week 4x4CIF at 1Mbps) or video can be streamed for remote viewing or storage (possibly using Ateme’s NVR software).
