Description

The Quad Dual-Band RF Transceiver is a four-channel MIMO RF analog front end, designed under an exclusive partnership with COMLAB, as a companion to the Lyrtech VHS-ADC\DAC Virtex-4 family of advanced development platforms, which provides the analog-to-digital-to-analog multichannel conversion interface and digital signal processing capabilities. When combined with additional DSP/FPGA processing boards, such as the SignalMaster Quad Virtex-4 platforms, it becomes a complete and very high performance MIMO RF to advanced baseband development station solutions.

The Quad Dual Band RF Transceiver is based on the MAX2829 singlechip RF transceiver IC, designed for OFDM 802.11 WLAN applications (while it can still be used with other multiplexing schemes). The Quad Dual Band RF Transceiver covers the world-band frequency ranges of 2.400 GHz to 2.500 GHz and 4.900 GHz to 5.875 GHz, and provides a channel bandwidth of up to 40 MHz. The four onboard MAX2829 devices integrate all the necessary circuitry to implement RF transceiver functions, yielding fully integrated reception and transmission paths, VCO, frequency synthesizer, and baseband control serial interface. External power amplifiers, RF switches, RF band pass filters, and baluns are also present to supplement the MAX2829. The Quad Dual Band RF Transceiver comes in a standard 2U rack mount with the RF, baseband, and control connections on the front panel.
