NXP Semiconductors' Nexperia/TriMedia MPTK Library Bundle for PNX1500/PNX0190 and PNX1700

This package bundles together all NXP Semiconductors-developed Audio/Video Decoder software components (and some audio encoders) for one low cost price. The Dolby, DivX, and WMV libraries require separate licensing agreements with IP holders and are shipped separately only after proof of licensing is established.

MPTK Library Bundle includes a "Main" installer package, and a separate installer packages for each IP (Intellectual Property) software package that requires a separate license :

Main MPTK installer package:

These IP libraries are included in the price of the MPTK Bundle, but are contained in separate installer packages that are only shipped after proof of proper licensing:

More detail on these libraries can be found in the NDK/MPTK documentation.

There are no royalty payments to MDS or NXP Semiconductors when using software contained in this MPTK Library Bundle. There is only a one-time up-front payment to purchase the whole bundle, as shown below in the Ordering Information section. This is a good deal.

Note that you are responsible for licensing all Intellectual Property software (IP) before shipping your products, even if that IP is included in the MPTK Main or "base" package. For example, the agreement you sign with NXP when you purchase the MPTK gives you the right to develop your own programs that incorporate MPEG2 and MPEG4 technology, but it does NOT allow you to ship products to your customers without obtaining a license from MPEGLA.

You are responsible for obtaining licenses with the IP owners before shipping any products containing the software libraries, which will likely require payment to the controlling organization:

As noted above, we cannot ship the DivX, Dolby, and Windows Media portions of the bundle until you have provided us with proof that you are properly licensed to use each of these technologies.

For Windows Media, it is possible to obtain a temporary 90 Day "evaluation" development license by applying for it. Contact us if you need to do this -- we will have you fill out a license form and submit it to NXP for approval.

In some cases, it is possible to obtain a temporary evaluation for the DivX portion, but this may require a large potential volume and must be approved by DivX. Contact us for an application -- we can also submit this for approval. For the Dolby AC3 decoder library, it is currently not possible to obtain an evaluation development license, and you must directly contact Dolby and license the technology before we can ship the Dolby portion of the package.

Remember, in all cases, you will have to get a license for all of these technologies before you can ship products to your customers. It is not enough to have an evaluation license, or a development license -- you must have a "runtime" or "distribution" or "end-user", or "product" license, or whatever they choose to call it. This is not unique to the NXP software, but is required by the owners of the Intellectual Property contained in the software. You would have to obtain these licenses (and pay royalties based on how many you ship) no matter what the actual implementation of their technology.

If you already have product distribution licenses for any of the above technologies, just let us know, and we can quickly verify the license, and ship the corresponding library package.
